Jessica + Derek - Engaged

It was such a pleasure to finally meet Jessica and Derek - an engaged couple who are getting ready to tie the knot this October in lovely Weston, Mo! They were incredibly easy-going and playful and they made the shoot so fun for me! Jessica brought this beautiful vintage bike all the way from Iowa for our shoot!! Thanks Jess! I hope you all have as much fun seeing their photos as I did taking them! I am so looking forward to photographing their wedding!!

Our first fashion shoot!!

I recently completed my first fashion shoot with aspiring model Izzy! She is only 16 but oh so gorgeous! We had the best time on this shoot! The local bowling alley didn't know what hit it!! Special thanks to my girl Kylie Davis for doing some awesome hair and makeup!!

Please meet lovely Amanda & handsome Kyle - engaged. This couple met me out in the sweltering heat of a Lawrence park for their shoot. What great sports they were! I am a bad blogger...

TGIF everyone! For the three or so people that probably read this blog - I really must apologize for being a bad blogger! It has been some time since my last post. I would like to start anew and choose to make a better effort at staying in touch with you guys.

I also think that maybe the four of us (lol) should try to get to know each other better. Okay, maybe you should just get to know me better. So that is where I have decided to start.

My name is Malissa and I am the owner of 628 Creative. We are a Kansas City based photography and styling company.

I started 628 Creative after spending much of my adult career in the advertising and marketing industry. I always knew that I was really meant to do something more than just directing photography or attending press checks. What I desired to do was to be behind the lens where I could really affect the finished photos. So in December 2010 away I went on my own.

Some people ask me where I came up with the name 628 Creative. I wish I could take credit for it but really the idea came from my husband who said, "Why not use the birth months of our three kids in the name?" What an excellent idea I thought. He loves to get the credit for the name - lol. Thanks honey! Jack, Lilly and Tristan are my three wonderful children. I am sure you will see them now and again either on the blog or on my website www.628creative.com.

I love to take pictures! I love the feeling I get when my customers receive their images and they tell me how much I captured the spirit of their children, or when they cry after seeing one of my videos. My clients become part of me, part of 628 Creative. Part of my forever family as I like to call it.

What types of photos do I take? I guess you could call them photo-journalistic, but that term seems over-used these days. It is simple really. I love to work with my clients to create a vision that is both natural and creative. Sometimes the ideas are simple and sometimes they aren't, but in the end if my clients are happy then that is what is most satisfying. I will take pictures of just about anything - kiddos, families, weddings, engagements and sometimes even a product or two. I also provide environmental & photo styling for other photographers.

Well there you have it. A brand new start on my bad blogging behavior. Are the three of you still out there? I hope you stay with me, and hopefully you will bring a friend or two to tag along next time.
